Talpa Radio in the Netherlands manages four stations — Radio 538, Sky Radio, Radio 10 and Radio Veronica — all of which can be broadcast via FM, DAB+ and satellite.
The stations’ old digital audio matrix was in need of an upgrade, so Talpa installed a series of Lawo products, including a combination of its routing and Virtual Studio Management (VSM) technology.
Among the gear that is now supplied at Talpa station’s is Lawo’s Nova73 at its main facility and a Nova Compact for co-location (distribution to all suppliers). The Lawo V-pro8 system allows for video and SDI-embedded audio.
The VSM runs on two HP DL320 servers with two GPIO boxes, one hardware panel with rotary encoder, one software panel and one RS232 box.
“Our six radio stations — four main stations and two backup studios — can be allocated according to the most efficient way of use, in combination with our broadcast consoles,” said Jens Timmermans, technical facilities manager for Talpa Radio on the new Lawo equipment.
