Thank you, Bernie and Larry

The radio technology fraternity lost two notable citizens in recent days. I hope you will join me in taking a moment to appreciate them.

For an understanding of the career of Larry Estlack, who has passed away, you can’t do better than hear what program consultant Fred Jacobs had to say about him:

“I can tell you that a broadcasting genius and a great guy has left us, and I just wanted to say a few words about a good friend, mentor and big influence on my life – as well as the careers of hundreds of people along the way.”

Read Jacobs’ appreciation.

Meanwhile RW readers are sharing their memories of the late Bernie Wise. “He was a great intellect and a boon to broadcasting,” one wrote.

Read our story about Wise, and feel free to add your own memories or comment.

Part of our job in the trade publication business is to let you know of the death of important industry contributors. It’s not a happy task, but it is an important one.

Thanks to those readers who help us honor and protect the memories of those who have served the industry.
