Peter Conlon has exited Nautel and is the new chief executive officer of LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.
LRL designs and manufactures of light-emitting diode-based street and area lighting fixtures and control systems. The company is headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with primary manufacturing located in Amherst, Nova Scotia. LRL also has manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.
Charles Cartmill founded LRL in 2002 and the company has 240 employees. Cartmill is retiring and will retain his majority ownership stake in the company and his position on the board. LRL is splitting his job into two, with Conlon taking over the CEO position while LRL EVP, Sales and Marketing Denis Lavoie was recently appointed as president.
During the past eight years of his tenure at Nautel, Conlon oversaw the company’s growth and development to what LRL characterizes as “an award-winning, global leader of high-power radio frequency products and solutions.” Formerly, Conlon held positions with a number of technology companies in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. The recipient of a number of awards, Conlon was five times named a Top 50 CEO in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2014. He was also named Business Person of the Year by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce in 2010.
In 2009, Nova Scotia Business Inc. named Nautel Limited Exporter of the Year and in 2014, PROFIT500 Fastest Growing Companies in Canada selected Nautel as a member.
