Cumulus Creates Director of Digital Sales and Ops for D.C. Stations

Also taps several PDs to new positions

Dahn Burke

Cumulus Media has appointed Dahn Burke as director of digital sales and operations for WRQX(FM) and WMAL(AM/FM) in Washington. The broadcaster also named Steve McKay as program director for WGNI(FM) and WKXS(FM) in Wilmington, N.C.; Travis Moon as program director for KUBL(FM) in Salt Lake City; and Kenny J as program director for KMJK(FM) in Kansas City.

In the newly created position, Burke will represent Cumulus Digital C-Suite, a portfolio of local digital marketing solutions in three areas that can be used in any combination to achieve local advertisers’ digital marketing goals.

Steve McKay

Burke joins Cumulus Media from Tegna Media, where she was digital sales manager. She was previously senior digital account executive for CBC Radio Washington and was a senior account executive for ABC Radio.

Before becoming program director for WGNI and WKXS, Steve McKay previously was a program director for WPTE in Norfolk, Va.; PD of WBHT in Scranton, Pa.; and PD for WBEN(FM) in Philadelphia; on-air talent for WJRZ(FM) in Manahawkin, N.J.; and an account executive for Max Media in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Va.

Travis Moon

New KUBL PD Travis Moon joins Cumulus from KAJA(FM) in San Antonio, Texas; KASE(FM) and KVET(FM) in Austin, Texas, where he was director of country operations/afternoon drive for iHeartMedia. He was previously PD and afternoon drive personality for KAJA(FM) in San Antonio. He was also senior liaison of radio development for ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Moon was PD for WUBE(FM) in Cincinnati and was assistant PD and music director for KEEY(FM) in Minneapolis. And Moon previously was an afternoon host, assistant PD and music director for KUBL. He holds a B.S. degree in Broadcasting from the University of Nebraska.

Kenny J

Kenny J will also host the midday show on KMJK. He joins KMJK from KWBT(FM) in Waco, Texas, where he was VP of programming. Prior to that, he was music director and assistant PD for (FM) in Dallas, Texas, with other stints in West Palm Beach, Fla.; Indianapolis, Ind.; and Tulsa, Okla.
