The National Religious Broadcasters will move its annual convention to Orlando next year, its first in a decade to be held anywhere but Nashville.
The NRB convention at one time moved around each year; for instance it was held in Dallas in 2006 and Orlando in 2007. But it has been in Nashville for the past nine years.
Next year’s show will be Feb. 27–March 2 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
After Orlando, Director of Communications Kenneth Chan tells Radio World, the conference will return to Nashville in 2018, and then head west to Anaheim, Calif., in 2019.
This year’s Proclaim 16 show drew an estimated 4,800 people, according to preliminary data. Final numbers will be reported in a few weeks but it appears to be the largest turnout for the annual NRB show since 2008.
Two Republican presidential candidates appeared at the show last week. Sen. Ted Cruz discussed the future of the Supreme Court in light of the death of Associate Justice Antonin Scalia. “The vacuum that is left by Justice Scalia’s passing cannot be overstated, and it really underscores the stakes of this next election,” Cruz said according to an NRB summary of his remarks. Ben Carson said Americans “have to recognize that strength is not determined by the volume with which you say something, but is really determined by the life that you have led,” he said.
