Majority of Audio Usage Done In-Home

Study notes that audio is more than just broadcast radio

Despite the idea by most that a majority of AM/FM radio listening is done in the car, a new study from Edison Research reveals that more than half of all audio usage is done in people’s homes.

According to Edison, 53% of total listening of all audio by people 13 or older, which includes owned music, streamed audio, podcasts, TV music channels and YouTube music, is done in the home; 30% in the car.

Edison’s “Share of Ear” study is measuring all audio usage, both music and speech based content, using both online and offline data collection.
