Smulyan, Dobbs to Take Part When Empire State Broadcasters Gather in June

NYSBA event to include Richard Lewis and Charles Gibson

The New York State Broadcasters Association will convene in Bolton Landing, N.Y., on June 28 and 29 at the Sagamore Resort Hotel for the 48th Annual Executive Conference.

The confab begins with the annual golf tournament and ends with comedian Richard Lewis hitting the stage.

In between ABC’s Charles Gibson will be awarded the Broadcaster of the Year award. Lou Dobbs is scheduled to speak as well.

For radio broadcasters, Jeff Smulyan, CEO of broadcaster (and publisher) Emmis Communications, will give his take on radio’s future, mobile communications and the performance tax.

Long Island Radio Group President David Widmer will head a panel looking at ways of getting new media to generate revenue for old media. And for those befuddled by the constantly evolving forms of such new media, technology writer/expert David Pogue will be on hand to try to explain.

NYSBA President Joseph A. Reilly said: “With new media transforming the broadcast experience, we’ve chosen to center our professional development activities around digital strategies … Attendees will learn from top innovators in the industry about how they can leverage their properties with technologies their viewers and listeners are currently embracing.”
