Angelou, RFA Are Among Gracie Winners

American Women in Radio and Television released the names of the 2008 annual Gracie Award winners.

American Women in Radio and Television released the names of the 2008 annual Gracie Award winners.

Harpo Radio and XM together take home three for content heard on the “Oprah & Friends” channel. Individual Achievement Awards in radio include Annette Flournoy as a producer of news specials or series, Dr. Maya Angelou as an information host and “The Gayle King Show” for Outstanding Talk Show.

Also winning are Lia Knight, Jones Radio Networks’ “The Lia Show,” Outstanding Host in Entertainment; “Youth Voices From Katrina” to Youth Radio for Outstanding Documentary; “The World According to Giles and Moriarty” to CBS Radio News for Outstanding Interview Program; and “The Internet and Civil Rights in China” to Radio Free Asia’s Mandarin Service, for Outstanding Series.

National award winners will be presented at a party at the New York Marriott Marquis on May 28 hosted by E! News Anchor/Managing Editor Giuliana Rancic.

Tickets for the gala are $395 for AWRT members, $500 for non-members.
