The FCC has fined KYCX(FM), Mexia, Texas $3,000 for failing to register is antenna tower. The Dallas Field Office issued a Notice of Violation in October, five months after first contacting the station. The station licensee, Groveton Broadcasting Group, did not contest the fine but asked that it be cancelled because it could not pay the amount. It supplied the FCC with tax returns for 1998 to 2000.
After reviewing the material, the FCC found no evidence of financial hardship and said the fine was not excessive.
Groveton has told the FCC it is now registering the antenna tower. The commission said the penalty stands and gave the station 30 days to pay.
