Another Pretty Snapshot From a Reader

Check out this broadcast tower, just 5 miles from the Rio Grande

Radio World loves to receive photographs that capture the allure of radio. Recently, we’ve put out multiple calls to our readership asking for pretty pictures of their facilities, and they did not disappoint! Want to share your own pics? We welcome all photos that capture the wonder of radio. Email them to [email protected].

Here’s another beautiful sunset photo, this one courtesy of Bob Stroupe, regional engineering manager for iHeartMedia.

This tower, located in La Féria in the Rio Grande Valley near Harlingen, Texas, serves KTEX(FM) and KBFM(FM). He took the photo in 2021.

“There are a couple of TV stations on the tower but no other radio stations. Crown Castle owns the tower, which is 454.5 meters or 1,491 feet above ground. It is only about five miles from the Rio Grande River and Mexico; it’s also 25 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and subject to impact from hurricanes.”

The tower is supervised by a lovely crescent moon.
