Colleagues are congratulating Jessica Rosenworcel on her renomination to another term as an FCC commissioner.
The White House announced the president’s intentions last night.
Democratic colleagues Chairman Tom Wheeler characterized Rosenworcel as “a tireless advocate for increasing access to crucial telecommunications services” and “her thoughtful approach to the complex issues we face,” while Commissioner Mignon Clyburn described her as “a forceful advocate.”
GOP Commissioner Ajit Pai, who began at the agency on the same day as Rosenworcel, calls her a “dedicated advocate ever since on issues ranging from public safety to the importance of freeing up more unlicensed spectrum.” And GOP Commissioner Michael O’Rielly said “her insights are always much appreciated.”
Rosenworcel says she’s honored that President Barack Obama indicated he intends to renominate her to the FCC and looks forward to “the continuing opportunity to serve.”
Rosenworcel was nominated to the FCC in 2011 and confirmed and sworn into office in 2012. Prior to the commission, she was the senior communications counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee under Chairman John D. Rockefeller IV and previously under Chairman Daniel Inouye. Before working on the Hill, Rosenworcel had several roles at the FCC, including legal advisor to former FCC Commissioner Michael Copps and legal counsel to the chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau.
Her term expires this summer and the Senate must confirm her renomination.
