Pai Tours Dielectric Repack Facility

Lewiston site is focused on preparing antennas needed for the spectrum shift

RAYMOND, Maine — Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai recently visited antenna system manufacturer Dielectric’s repack facility in Lewiston, Maine.

During his trip, the chairman met with President Andy Whiteside and Vice President/General Manager Keith Pelletier and other executives and also toured the facility and repack production operation. According to Dielectric, “Pai saw roughly 25 high-power TV antennas in various stages of assembly and testing during the tour,” as well as assemblies of the broadband UHF TFU-WB antenna and a 25,000-pound TV antenna that will be shipped to Puerto Rico.

Additionally, Whiteside said, “We expressed our concern to Chairman Pai that a significant number of installations have already been delayed as broadcasters and rigging crews encounter the technical, structural, logistical and weather problems typical of these projects.”

The manufacturer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group and booked its 500th repack antenna last week, according to the announcement.
