SUV Has Run-In With LA AM Transmitter Site

KSPN lost some grass but the transmitter building, antenna are OK

LOS ANGELES KSPN(AM) had a bit of a scare last week when an SUV crashed through a fence at its transmitter and antenna site in the Valley Glen area, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

To make matters worse, a fire started soon after the incident. Its unclear whether the driver deliberately set the blaze or whether it was accidentally sparked by the vehicle, which did catch on fire. In total, about one acre of grass was burned before firefighters put it out. Aside from the fence, it does not appear that there was other damage.

In addition to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the LAPD responded and took the suspect into custody after a pursuit.

The driver is suspected of driving under the influence.

The station is owned by ESPN and broadcasts at 710 AM.
