14 New DAB+ Stations Now On-Air in Zurich

“DAB Island” program enables local broadcasters to go digital

Listeners in Zurich today have more programming variety, according to Radioszene. There are now 14 new pop, rock and cultural DAB+ radio stations on-air in the region as of the end of August; 20 stations had applied for these slots.

These new stations include: Radio Tropic (latin music), Radio Industrie (rap), Toxic.fm from St. Gallen (alternative rock), Runkfunk FM, Radio 74 (Christian/family), Planet 105, Kanal K, Radio Stadtfilter, Radio LoRa and more.

Digris AG operates DAB+ islands throughout Switzerland so as to allow alternative and regional stations access to the technology at a lower cost. Swiss OFCOM funds 75 percent of Digris’ expenditures, thus permitting independent radio stations to move toward digital broadcasting more easily.
