Academics, Others to Outweigh Broadcasters at Nashville Ownership Hearing

Two radio broadcasters will speak during the formal part of the FCC’s field hearing on media ownership rules in Nashville next week.
The Dec. 11 hearing lasts all day; it’s the second in a series of six the agency intends to conduct on potential changes to media ownership rules.
The first panel will examine issues affecting the music recording industry. The second will provide an overview of the Nashville market and issues affecting broadcasters and independent programmers.
Artists such as Naomi Judd, George Jones and Porter Waggoner are expected to testify. Representing radio will be Nashville area broadcasters Bud Walters, president of Cromwell Radio; John Heidelberg, president of Heidelberg Broadcasting and owner of WVOL(AM); and Ginny Welsch, co-founder and executive director of WRFN(LP).
Former Commissioner Henry Rivera will moderate a panel.
