Alpine Shipping Audio/Video/Nav System That Includes HD

INE-S920HD offers enhanced navigation platform, customization features

Alpine Electronics of America is shipping a new audio/video/navigation system that includes built-in HD Radio.

The INE-S920HD features a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and DVD, AAC MP3 playback. The unit is compatible with SiriusXM with the addition of a separate tuner.

The company says “Alpine does HD.” The consumer electronic manufacturer’s “Smart Reception Management keeps you tuned in to your favorite HD digital subchannels, even when you’re in an area with limited digital reception.”

Users can connect their smartphones to the unit to control Pandora Internet audio stations.

With the INE-S920HD, Alpine debuts an enhanced navigation platform that includes a 3D view that depicts major landmarks, buildings and terrain details. The highway services list displays gas, food, ATMs, etc. available at each exit.

The “My Favorites” screen lets users add, delete, drag and rearrange up to eight shortcut keys for their most-used features, such as audio sources, phone settings, and navigation commands. The settings are kept as a personal profile linked to the user’s phone via Bluetoothwireless technology, so the shortcuts can be accessed on the INE-S920HD.

Users can customize audio response by indicating vehicle and upholstery type, speaker numbers and their locations.

The unit is available now at authorized Alpine retailers and lists for $999.95.
