Angottis Sell Four Indiana Stations

Lafayette TV picks up a group of signals that include WAZY(FM)

Four Indiana radio stations that have been run by two generations of Angottis will have new ownership after a sale by Artistic Media Partners. The stations include 50 kW WAZY(FM), flagship of the Purdue Sports Network.

Being sold to Lafayette TV LLC are WCYM(FM) in Attica, WBPE(FM) in Brookston, and WAZY(FM) and WSHY(AM) in Lafayette, for $2.3 million. Kalil & Co. Inc. was exclusive broker.

Lafayette TV is headed by CEO Bill Christian and President Mike Reed. The announcement quotes Christian as saying the Angotti family “has spent two generations building this team and serving the market, and our goal is to continue their tradition of proud service.” Reed said Lafayette TV also plans to launch the market’s first local Fox and NBC television stations.

Arthur Angotti III was quoted: “After 23 years of visiting and living in the Lafayette market, it’s not easy letting our Lafayette stations go, but having met with the owners of Lafayette TV LLC, I am confident that they will continue our commitment to broadcast excellence and the support of the staff, the community and continue the partnership with Purdue University.”

Arthur Angotti II founded Artistic Media Partners, which also owns WDND(AM) in South Bend.The company formed in 1988 and was previously called University Broadcasting Co. He is president of Heritage Management, a financial consulting firm, according to the Artistic website, while Arthur Angotti III oversees operations of the broadcast company that he joined in 1997.

The stations being sold:

WSHY(AM) at 1410 kHz, with 1 kW day and 0.06 kW night
WAZY(FM) at 96.5 MHz, with 50 kW at 499 HAAT
WBPE(FM) at 95.3 MHz, with 2.3 kW at 505 HAAT
WYCM(FM) at 95.7 MHz, with 3.1 kW at 433 HAAT
