Antenna Radio App Updated

Curated “terrestrial radio-like” programming

Startup incubator The Giant Pixel Corporation says its Antenna Radio app for iPhones has been redesigned to deliver a personalized program stream of curated talk, news, information and entertainment-based programming on-the-go.

Antenna Radio says it offers listeners a “terrestrial radio-like” experience in its 3.0 app for iOS.

Antenna Radio creator and Giant Pixel co-founder Elliot Loh says the update means a simplified design, more speed and more stability. “Now Antenna starts playing in just a few seconds, and crashes far less.”

Channels are selected according to criteria such as quality, length and relevance to the experience users want, according to the company. Channels are further targeted by proximity to major U.S. radio listening markets, and users have the option of adding location-based updates like local weather and traffic reports.

With each use, the algorithm learns listener preferences and draws on crowd-sourced ratings to adjust each user’s programming in real-time.

The Antenna interface has been designed to help promote radio show producers with a player interface that supports branded program graphics and a “channel profile” that includes hooks to social platforms like Twitter and links to selected radio show websites. Antenna Radio can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.
