Apple will neither confirm nor deny a blog rumor this week that the company plans to introduce HD Radio boomboxes equipped with iTunes tagging technology at MacWorld.
The rumor stems from iLounge, a blog devoted to Apple products that claims it is independent of the technology developer.
We reported in September that several radio groups, including CBS Radio, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Cox, Entercom and Greater Media, have all announced they are implementing the technology, which allows users of HD Radio receivers equipped with iPod docking stations to tag songs. When synced with a computer, the playlist appears in iTunes, for potential purchase.
When queried about the boombox rumor, an Apple spokesman declined comment.
MacWorld is set for Jan. 14–18 in San Francisco.
