Arbitron Keeps an Eye on Post-Sandy Ratings

Audience research firm to begin releasing Week 3 PPM data to authorized users Nov. 19

Arbitron continues to closely review the data it’s getting for certain weeks of the current Portable People Meter survey period impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

The audience research firm says it will release Portable People Meter ratings data for Week 3 (Oct. 25– 31) of the November Survey period as scheduled to all PPM markets, including New York City, Nassau-Suffolk, N.Y., Middlesex-Somerset-Union, N.J. and Philadelphia.

While superstorm Sandy did affect the performance of the sample in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets, the company’s review of usable PPM meter readings and other sample performance metrics supports the release of the Week 3 data in all markets.

Week 3 PPM data will begin releasing to authorized users as scheduled, beginning on Monday, Nov. 19. Because the week of the 19th includes Thanksgiving, the fourth day of weekly PPM data releases will be on Monday, Nov. 26.

Arbitron continues to review of the November Week 4 (Nov.1–7) sample performance metrics for New York City, Nassau-Suffolk, and Middlesex-Somerset-Union. The audience research firm hopes to provide the industry with a final decision on the release of Week 4 in these three markets, early in the week of Nov. 19.

Arbitron currently plans to release Week 4 and the monthly November PPM data for all other PPM markets as scheduled, beginning Nov. 27.
