Audio-Technica introduced the AT2020 USB cardioid condenser microphone.

Based on its AT2020, it has a USB digital output and a low-mass diaphragm; the company said it is suitable for digitally capturing music or acoustic audio sources using recording software.

The company says the Mac- and Windows-compatible AT2020 USB offers articulation and intelligibility for field recording, podcasting and voiceover use. Low self-noise and extended frequency response make the AT2020 USB a suitable microphone for a variety of digital recording setups. It has a fixed cardioid polar pattern.

The unit is powered from a USB bus and includes a tripod desk stand, stand mount, USB cable and soft protective carrying pouch.

The AT2020 USB will be available in March with an MSRP of $249.
