Roy Baum has been elected chairman of the state EAS committee in Kansas.
Baum, chief engineer of WIBW(AM/FM) and Kansas Radio Networks, is based in Topeka. He was elected EAS chair at the recent meeting of the State Emergency Alert System Committee, and replaces Bill Nolan of Broadcast Technical Associates in Wichita.
“Our current priority is to update our existing state plan, and to make it ‘CAP friendly,’” he told Radio World.
“We are also meeting to create a new plan that brings the governor, state EOC, local emergency preparedness, National Weather Service and broadcasters together.”
