BBC Expands National DAB Coverage

Adds 11 sites as part of its plan to cover 97 percent of population by end of year

The BBC has added 11 sites to its list of national DAB stations, with the most recent one in Port St. Mary, England, coming on last week. The rest of the sites have been switched on over the last two months.

According to a516digital, the new transmitters are located in Brandon, to cover Brandon and The Becks; Campbelltown for the Kintyre Peninsula; Grantham Newgate Lane for Grantham and the surrounding areas of Lincolnshire, Hartshill Quarry for Nuneaton; Haydon Bridge for Haydon Bridge and parts of Haltwhistle; Newton for Hexham, Stocksfield, Corbridge and Prudhoe; Port St. Mary for the Port St. Mary area of Isle of Man; Pye Green for Cannock and Rugeley; St. Catherine’s Hill for Bournemouth, Poole and Ringwood; Warren Heath for Ipswich; and Weardale for Weardale Valley.

The BBC is in the final stages of its expansion of the national DAB multiplex to reach its goal of covering 97 percent of the population by the end of the year.
