BE, Quincy Thank Saudi Ministry

Relationship has produced some 300 transmitter orders

Broadcast Electronics has had a profitable, 16-year relationship with the government of Saudi Arabia; this month the transmitter maker and the city of Quincy, Ill., hosted several officials from that country.

Shown, Quincy Mayor John A. Spring, right, presents Mizyad Al Omar of the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture and Information with a ceremonial key to the city at the BE plant. Al Omar is MoCI director of transmitter projects. Also visiting were Project Engineer Ayman Al Zahrani as well as BE Saudi representatives Nasr Atwan and Madhukar Sonpal of Thales.

MoCI is the agency responsible for radio and television in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. BE said it has provided about 300 transmitters to the country over the years. In the fourth quarter BE will ship approximately 30 STX LP transmitters of 1 kW to 5 kW for synchronized regional coverage.

The company hosted state and local officials who thanked the Saudis for contributing to the local economy.
