Beasley Expands ESPN Offering

South Florida FM translators to simulcast AM sports talk

Beasley Broadcast’s WWCN(AM) ESPN sports talker in Fort Myers/Naples, Fla., has made the move to FM.

It will still be heard on 770 kHz but it can now be heard across several southwest Florida jurisdictions on FM simulcast. The listings are 98.1 MHz for the South Fort Myers/Estero area; 101.5 for Bonita Springs and North Naples; and 105.1 for Naples and Marco Island. Bonus coverage includes the HD2 for rocker WRXK(FM).

The three added signals are lower-power translators purchased from Reach Communications last summer. WWCN carries the ESPN Radio programming lineup along with the games of numerous South Florida teams: Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning and colleges U. of Miami and Northern Florida’s Florida State.

Vice President and Market Manager Brad Beasley called it “a big deal for SW Florida sports enthusiasts. For the past 12 years, the only way to hear sports in our community has been on the AM dial. Now our loyal listeners can also follow their favorite teams and events at multiple locations on the FM dial …”
