Beasleys Kick Off First Boston Radio Talent Institute

The event is hosted at Emerson College and is named for the Beasley organization

Beasley Media Group CEO Caroline Beasley and COO/EVP Brian Beasley helped to inaugurate the first Beasley Radio Talent Institute Monday at Emerson College in Boston.

They addressed students following opening comments from Emerson College President Dr. Lee Pelton and Sunshine Wireless Company Vice President & Managing Partner and Emerson Board of Trustees Chair Jeff Greenhawt.

The students attending represent nine different universities in the region and will learn from approximately 40 broadcasters during the 10-day institute. Other Monday speakers included Jacobs Media’s Fred Jacobs, who addressed “How Technology is Transforming Radio Careers,” followed by Xperi SVP of Broadcast Radio Joseph F. D’Angelo on “HD Radio Technology and the Future of Broadcast in the Vehicle.”

Other session leaders will be broadcasters from Entercom Communications, iHeartMedia and Hall Communications.

Additionally, students will visit Beasley Boston stations on Wednesday and Friday and will also learn from other Beasley pros in the Boston region, including closing speaker Beasley Media Group Boston VP/Market Manager Mary Menna.

“The Beasley Radio Talent Institute builds upon the quality education students are already receiving at their academic institutions and through working at their college radio stations,” said Emerson adjunct professor and WERS(FM) General Manager Jack Casey.
