BIAfn AppTracker Keeps Tabs on FCC Apps Under Review

BIAfn Dataworld, which provides broadcast engineering and FCC business information, says it has enhanced its AppTrackers and FLAG services to support efforts of media companies and legal counsels in monitoring FCC actions.

AppTracker now sends detailed status reports to mobile applications, such as BlackBerry, Treo and iPhone. It monitors new applications under review at the FCC in real time, helping companies to stay on top of developments on construction permits, license assignments, transfers of control and consummated agreements.

The service delivers decisions and actions based on application number, market areas, owner and licensee names, call signs, and e-mail addresses.

FLAG notifies subscribers of activity at the FCC that impacts any monitored points, and provides an alert system on decisions affecting that specific area. FLAG also provides notification of station conversions to digital, and checks spacing criteria and educational proposals near commercial operation. It monitors states, or specific FCC release types or release items, and initiates an alert to Dataworld subscribers when an FCC release mention’s a station’s call letters or flagged geographic site.
