Broadcast students are getting some extra time to compose their essays for the BMI Founders Award for Radio Broadcasting, per a press release from the BMI Foundation. The application for the third annual scholarship program will now be due by April 1.
The BMI Founders Award for Radio Broadcasting was established in 2015, commemorating the group of radio industry leaders who founded Broadcast Music, Inc. Each year the program recognizes a student who is identified to have the potential to “become an innovator in the rapidly changing field of broadcast radio.”
This year, BMI will award the winning student up to $5,000 and a trip to the 43rd annual Conclave Learning Conference in Minneapolis, where the official award will be presented. BMI encourages aspiring radio newscasters, announcers, sales executives and program directors to apply.
All entrants must be current students at an accredited U.S. college or university, between the ages of 17 and 24 at the time of entry and a degree candidate in Broadcast Communications or a related major. Judges will determine the winner based on entrants’ essay responses, letter of recommendations and academic record.
Online applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on April 1. For more information, visit bmifoundation.org/broadcast.
