CBS Radio Phoenix Ups Richards

He is named Phoenix VP of programming

Tim Richards has been named vice president of programming of the CBS Radio Phoenix cluster of stations, according to CBS Radio Phoenix Senior Vice President and Market Manager Tim Pohlman.

Richards will continue to serve as PD of KMLE(FM) and KZON(FM), and Dave Shakes will continue to serve as Program Director of KOOL(FM) and will work under the direction of Richards.

“Tim has certainly earned the VP programming stripes here at CBS Radio Phoenix,” said Tim Pohlman. “I am excited to see his talents applied to the heritage brand of 94.5 KOOL(FM).”

Richards joined the staff of CBS Radio Phoenix and KMLE in 2013 as program director, and was promoted to operations manager of both KMLE and KZON in October of 2014. Prior to that, he was PD of KZZP(FM) in Phoenix and show director for the “Johnjay & Rich” program.

His career includes stints as operations manager KRQQ(FM) in Tucson, Ariz., regional vice president of programming (Clear Channel), PD of WKQI(FM) in Detroit and WKQX(FM) in Chicago and assistant PD/music director at WBMX(FM) in Boston. He began his radio career in Chicago with CBS Radio’s WBBM(FM).
