NPR has hired broadcast journalist Cynthia (Cinny) Kennard as manager for NPR West,
effective Oct. 1. In this newly created position, Kennard will oversee programming and operations at NPR West, the Culver City, Ca. production studio established by the entwork in November 2002. Kennard will oversee the production of the two daily programs originating from NPR West, The Tavis Smiley Show and Day to Day, as well as engineering and support staffs at the facility. Approximately 40 full-time NPR employees are currently based at NPR West.
Kennard comes to NPR with 25 years of experience in broadcast journalism. Most recently she has been an executive project director and an assistant professor of journalism at the USC Annenberg School in Los Angeles. Prior to that she was a CBS News correspondent from 1992-96, based in Los Angeles, London and Moscow.
Her broadcast career started in 1977 at WNLK(AM), Norwalk, Conn. where she was a reporter, anchor and talk show host.
