An earlier version of the above story stated that the cuts constituted 20% of the BCD workforce; Thorsteinson cited that percentage in his meeting with reporters last week. A Harris spokeswoman today clarified the scope:
“Of 150 cuts that Tim referred to in his comments, Harris released 89 people from their jobs,” she said. “The remainder of 61 positions were either requisitions to hire, retirees, resignations, etc., for positions that we eliminated. The workforce that was cut came from three locations, Quincy, Ill.; Mason, Ohio; and at our Rankweil facility in Austria. This is definitely not 20 percent of our workforce,” which RW believes totals about 2,300.
