College Broadcasters Upset by Streaming Ruling

College Broadcasters Upset by Streaming Ruling

An organization of college electronic media outlets is bemoaning the ruling of the Librarian of Congress on streaming royalties.
The board of Collegiate Broadcasters Inc. issued a statement saying, “Unfortunately, the rates … announced what could be the beginning of the end for many educational and student programs at colleges and universities around the country.”
CBI said the process prevented the Librarian and the Copyright Office from setting rates and record-keeping requirements that “appropriately reflect our members ability to comply and pay those fees.”
CBI has about 100 members including radio, TV and Web-only media.
