Cumulus Names New PDs in Mobile and Columbia

Jimmy Steele and Steve McKay get new gigs after one year with the company

Cumulus Media has named Jimmy Steele as program director for WABD(FM) in Mobile, Ala., replacing Sid Kelly, who moves to the Indianapolis cluster, where he will be PD for WYRG. Also, in Columbia, S.C., the company has tapped Steve McKay to serve as PD for WTCB(FM) and WOMG(FM).

Steele will retain his roles as operations manager for Cumulus Mobile and midday on-air personality for WABD, in addition to serving as PD of WXQW(AM).

Although he just joined Cumulus last summer, Steele has three decades of programming experience, including a stint at iHeartMedia San Diego stations and working for Saga Communications in Columbus, Ohio, as operations director/brand manager, according to the announcement.

McKay most recently was PD for Cumulus’ WGNI(FM) and WKXS(FM) in Wilmington, N.C. He’s been with the company since July 2017, but has been in the biz for more than 20 years. He’s held the PD role at WPTE(FM) in Norfolk, Va.; WBHT(FM) in Scranton, Pa.; and WEJM(FM) in Philadelphia; and also was on air talent at WJRZ(FM) in Manahawkin, N.J.

Cumulus Media combines local programming with nationally syndicated brands to deliver content through its 441 owned-and-operated stations in 90 U.S. media markets, approximately 8,000 broadcast radio stations affiliated with its Westwood One network and digital channels.
