Cliff Smithers
Cumulus Media continues to make personnel decisions in Ohio. In Toledo, Cliff Smithers has taken on a double gig — management and show host. He’s the new program director for WRQN(FM) along with joining the station’s “The WRQN Breakfast Show.”
Smithers started his career in Toledo with stops in the market at WTOD(AM), WKKO(FM) and WRQN before moving on. He’s also worked at WIOG(FM) in Saginaw, Mich.; WGRV(FM) in Detroit; and CBS Radio’s WOMC(FM) and WYCD(FM) in Detroit.
Chris Saglian
Smithers said, “I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Cumulus/Toledo as PD at 93-5 WRQN.”
At the other end of Lake Erie, in Buffalo, N.Y., Chris Saglian and Ryan McCrohan have been named as co-general sales managers for the Cumulus Buffalo cluster.
Saglian’s appointment is effective Aug. 15, having most recently worked as local sales manager for Entercom Rochester. Prior to that, he was GSM for Cox Radio Atlanta.
Ryan McCrohan
McCrohan was promoted internally; he was a Buffalo local sales manager and has also held various positions within the cluster for the past 16 years.
Jerry Padden
“I am very excited to bring Chris back to Buffalo and reunite him with Ryan as co-GSMs,” said Cumulus Buffalo VP/Market Manager Steve Bearance. “The experiences Chris has gained around the country with different companies, along with Ryan’s 16 years within our local stations, will create a dynamic duo that will create a sales leadership alchemy for our local sales staff and overall culture in the building.”
Across the border in eastern Pennsylvania in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton market, Cumulus Ops Manager Jerry Padden has also had the program director for WLEV(FM) added to his list. He is also the PD for WCTO(FM) in the same group.
Cumulus Media-Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Vice President/Market Manager Elizabeth Pembleton said, “Over the last decade, I’ve had the opportunity to work side by side with Jerry in Allentown and witnessed his commitment to both brand strategy and client support.”
