The Dutch Public Broadcasting (NPO) company has completed phase two of the rollout of its DAB+ network according to radio.nl, by turning on the last transmitter in Groningen.
Since September 2013, national commercial radio stations in most of the Netherlands broadcast via DAB+. Additionally, all of the country’s national public radio stations broadcast via DAB +, but with limited coverage until recently. Coverage of Randstad, parts of Gauteng and parts of North Brabant has now also been added.
KPN Broadcast Services accelerated the rollout of the NPO DAB + network. Thirteen new channels are currently broadcasting, and most of the country has been receiving programs since February, when the transmitters in Enschede, Maastricht and Eindhoven were switched on.
With the commissioning of the station in Eindhoven, the temporary station in Mierlo has been turned off. Most recently, the Groningen transmitter improved reception to the north.
