DRM Attends Mediatech Africa

Is featuring live DRM+local-coverage broadcasts

Digital Radio Mondiale attended Mediatech Africa, which took place in Johannesburg, July 19–21.

During the event, participants had the chance to hear live demonstrations of DRM+ trial broadcasts, carried out by Wecodec at Johannesburg community radio station Kofifi FM in collaboration with BBC and Fraunhofer IIS.

The ongoing DRM+ trial for local coverage features content produced by the station and BBC. It also integrates features presented through the Journaline data application.

DRM says the interim report on the trial in Johannesburg has revealed “excellent performance of the digital radio standard on the FM band without interference to neighboring FM stations.”
