From Aug. 21-22, the Digital Radio Mondiale Consortium hosted two workshops in India.
The first was organized with the help of All India Radio and held for the technical staff at AIR’s New Delhi transmission site, which is already broadcasting in DRM.
The workshop’s theme was the configuration and implementation of the DRM Emergency Warning and Alerts features. Around 40 members of staff and AIR’s management, including the engineer-in-chief, as well as manufacturers, were present. Attendees were able to take part in a demonstration of DRM’s features for disaster warnings and alerts.
The second event took place in Chennai Aug. 22, in conjunction with the Chennai chapter of the Broadcasting Engineering Society of India and AIR.
DRM Consortium representatives presented the features of the standard to approximately 110 guests, who included the local AIR staff, community stations, radio manufacturers and the press. The presentations were followed by demonstrations and live broadcasts of Chennai’s DRM AIR transmission.
