Companies holding patents for different components of the Digital Radio Mondiale Technology are establishing a way to pool their patents to make it easier for manufacturers to license the technology and bring DRM products to market. Via Licensing Corporation is crafting a portfolio containing patents essential to the DRM audio coding and modulation/demodulation technologies.
Companies working with Via Licensing include AT&T, Coding Technologies, Dolby Laboratories, France Telecom, Fraunhofer IIS, NEC, Philips Electronics, Robert Bosch, Sony, T-Systems International, Thales and Voice Age.
The patent licensing fees for DRM are on the Via Licensing Website at www.vialicensing.com/products/drm. The group hopes to begin licensing during the third quarter of this year.
