EBU Presents the Music of the World

Thirty-four countries will participate in special World Radio Day program

Listeners will have the opportunity to get a taste of world culture without having to update their passport with the European Broadcasting Union’s planned “Musical Caravan” for World Radio Day.

The EBU is working with its members, associates and sister unions, which include the ABU, ASBU and CBU to coordinate a two hour program that will consist of songs representing the musical heritage of 34 countries, some of which include Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

There will also be a special performance of Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” by the NHK Symphony Orchestra of Tokyo and the Kunitachi College of Music Chorus as part of EBU’s World Radio Day presentation.

The organization also plans to share facts about radio listening compiled by the organization’s Media Intelligence Unit on Facebook and Twitter in the week leading up to World Radio Day.
World Radio Day 2016 will be held on Feb. 13.
