Elevated FM IBOC Comments Due in July

Federal Register publication triggers dates

The comment dates are set for the Federal Communications Commission’s latest notice on the proposed elevated FM IBOC power issue — the one that basically asked whether the agency should decide the issue now or wait until the NPR Labs tests are done.

Comments are due to MM Docket 99-325 by July 6 and replies by July 17. The comment dates were set now that the item has been published in the Federal Register.

The commission also asked for comments on whether it should grant the entire 10 dB increase or some lower level, and if it does okay the increase, whether it should also establish “more explicit” procedures to resolve digital-into-analog interference complaints.

The agency also asked whether it should establish interference standards to protect analog signals on first adjacents to digital stations, and if those standards should protect LPFMs operating on first adjacent channels.
