FCC Conceived 70 Years Ago

“I recommend that the Congress create a new agency to be known as the Federal Communications Commission…”
The words were Franklin D. Roosevelt’s. The date was February 26, 1934, 70 years ago this week. The Communications Act 0f 1934 subsequently created the FCC.
Previously those duties had been spread among the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Federal Radio Commission.
