FCC General Counsel Austin Schlick to Exit

Deputy general counsel Lev promoted

There will soon be a top attorney change at the commission.

FCC General Counsel Austin Schlick will step down from his position in mid-June.

Chairman Julius Genachowski promoted Sean Lev, currently deputy general counsel and special advisor to the chairman, to the top job. The change takes effect in June.

Schlick had worked at the FCC in various roles in 2004 and 2005. He was chief of litigation for the state of Maryland before he rejoined the agency in 2009.

The chairman said the FCC prevailed in more than 90% of court cases challenging orders issued by the Genachowski commission.

Lev came to the FCC from the Department of Energy where he had been acting general counsel and deputy general counsel for environment and nuclear programs.
