FCC Media Bureau Names Deputy Chief

Sarah Whitesell joins three others

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski named Sarah Whitesell as a deputy chief of the Media Bureau.

Whitesell will help shape bureau policy on broadcast ownership and large media transactions, among others, according to the announcement from the chairman.

She’s been with the Media Bureau since 2005 and has worked in other areas of the commission, including acting as a legal advisor for Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein on media issues, and to Commissioner Gloria Tristani for common carrier issues.

She joins three other deputy chiefs in the Media Bureau, Robert Ratcliffe, Kris Montieth and Michelle Carey.
