The FCC is asking for comment on rules governing tower construction, marking and lighting. The agency hopes the revisions will improve compliance and allow the agency to better enforce the regs.
The commission is trying to modernize the Part 17 rules and says the proposed changes are intended to improve compliance and help the agency enforce the rules more effectively.
Proposed revisions, says the commission, would also remove “outdated and burdensome” requirements without compromising the FCC’s responsibility to prevent towers from being “hazards or menaces to air navigation.”
Comments to WT 10-88 will be due 60 days after Federal Register publication.
