Ferrara: $99 Accurian HD-R Sales ‘Overwhelmed’ RadioShack

While the HD Digital Radio Alliance has no hard numbers yet for how many IBOC radios sold over the Thanksgiving holiday, its president/CEO says manufacturers told him response to new, lower prices was good.
Asked by RW Online specifically how the $99 RadioShack Accurian did, Peter Ferrara said the retailer was “overwhelmed by the sales. They oversold the radios in virtually every market where they have rolled it out.”
Several engineers have commented in online list-serves that they purchased Accurians during the $99 sale and received free shipping.
The Accurian is now $174.99 after a mail-in rebate.
