GatesAir Goes With Omnicast in Australia

GatesAir has appointed Sydney-based Omnicast, a systems integrator and distributor specializing in radio, television, cinema and satellite systems, as an Australian distribution channel.

Under the agreement, Omnicast will partner with GatesAir to deliver complete systems and guide broadcasters through challenging transitions — notably the migration to DAB+ digital radio systems.

Headed by Managing Director Mario Fairlie and Engineering Director Ian McKenzie, Omnicast provides an array of services across systems design, equipment supply, project management, installation and commissioning, as well as ongoing maintenance services.

With digital radio gaining ground in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, drawing in about 3 million listeners to date, Omnicast says it expects the DAB+ digital radio migration to spread into “regional areas” over the next few years, eventually covering most of the country’s 22 million residents.

It believes that GatesAir’s systems can aid in this transition, particularly since the company provides complete DAB radio headend solutions along with GatesAir transmission systems.
