GMC Adds HD Radio to Acadia

Crossover adds second GM brand to offer the feature

Text has been updated to reflect that HD Radio will be standard, not optional, on the Acadia.

HD Radio has added a second General Motors brand to its lineup of carmaker clients, the eponymous GMC brand.

GMC will offer the digital radio format standard in the 2013 GMC Acadia crossover, due to buyers late this year.

“The HD Radio-equipped vehicle made its North American debut during the GMC Press Conference at the Chicago Auto Show,” iBiquity stated.

It’s the first vehicle from GMC with HD Radio; the only other GM brand so far is Cadillac, where HD Radio will come standard on the CUE system that will be in XTS and ATS models.

IBiquity said that brings to 23 the number of brands offering HD Radio as a factory installed feature.
