Groups Get Closer to New NCE FM Licenses

Commission chooses tentative selectees in 26 groups

The FCC has named tentative victors in 26 groups of “mutually exclusive” applications for new or modified noncommercial educational FM station construction permits.

It issued its “threshold analyses” and named the tentative selectee in each group.

The groups in this order are from applications filed or amended in October 2007 during the first filing window for NCE FMs; they had a chance to settle among themselves and now were subject to a simplified comparative process.

Among those chosen: Catholic Radio Network was tentatively selected to serve Dekalb, Miss.; Catholic Social Club of Putnam County Tennessee for Cookville, Tenn.; Catholic Radio of the Texas High Plains for Channing, Texas; Educational Media Foundation for McKee, Ky.; Washington State University for Goldendale, Wash.; Hope Radio for West Helena, Ark.; Community Radio Project for Dove Creek, Colo.; and Reach Communications Inc. in Live Oak, Fla.

The FCC intends to grant the applications if, after the 30-day petition to deny period has run, there is no “substantial and material question” concerning grantability of the selectee’s application.
