Harris Ships HD-R Transmission Gear to APR

The phased rollout also includes three HD Radio upgrades to existing Harris Z-Series analog transmitters; and Harris FlexStar IBOC broadcast products at each station for multicasting initiatives.

Exclusive to this report, I hear Harris delivered 13 HD Radio transmitters to American Public Media for its group-wide IBOC broadcast initiative.

The conversion is targeted for December completion.

APR is the distribution arm of Minnesota Public Radio, with headquarter studios based in St. Paul. APR will install the entire FlexStar multicasting platform (HDE-100 Importer, HDE-100 Exporter and HDX exciter) at its various transmission facilities.

The phased rollout also includes three HD Radio upgrades to existing Harris Z-Series analog transmitters; and Harris FlexStar IBOC broadcast products at each station for multicasting initiatives.

APR DOE Doug Thompson cited the FlexStar gear as easy to set up and administer, and expressed confidence that APR would have a “reliable platform already in place as more of our stations explore multicasting.”
