The Radio Talent Institute series has fired up again this summer with the Kellar Radio Talent Institute at Appalachian State University, the first week of June.
The series of Radio Talent Institutes are for college students at select schools. They attend sessions to hear and interact with radio industry professionals — radio station staff, contractors or service providers. Topics include on-air, sports, news, promotions, production, podcasting, engineering, digital and sales through the RAB Radio Marketing Professional certification course range.
The Kellar edition featured over 40 broadcast professionals from Beasley Media Group, Entercom, iHeartMedia, Radio One, Capitol Broadcasting, Dick Broadcasting along with vets from programmers and schools such as the Performance Racing Network, Morning Show Bootcamp. Not to be forgotten were speakers like Mick Mixon, play-by-play announcer for the Carolina Panthers.
Several of the sessions involved visits to local radio facilities and service provider operations.
Additional talent institute stops are the Beasley Radio Talent Institute at Emerson College in Boston; GAB Radio Talent Institute, University of Georgia; TAB Radio Talent Institute at the University of Tennessee; Confer Radio Talent Institute at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania; Hubbard Radio Talent Institute at Central Washington University; KBA WKU Radio Talent Institute at Western Kentucky University and the MBA Radio Talent Institute at Northwest Missouri State University.
